Co-host Common Health blog, WBUR
Rachel Zimmerman is co-host of WBUR’s CommonHealth blog where she writes and reports stories on a range of health and medical topics from sex and mental illness to pediatrics, poverty, neuroscience, health reform and medical ethics. She also produces radio features for WBUR and recently launched (with Carey Goldberg) a podcast for Slate, ‘The Checkup.’
Rachel worked as a staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal for 10 years in Seattle, New York and in Boston as a health and medicine reporter. She has also written for The New York Times, the (now-defunct) Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the alternative newspaper Willamette Week, in Portland, Ore., among other publications.
Rachel spent 2008-2009 as a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT and co-wrote The Doula Guide To Birth, published in 2009 by Bantam/Random House.
She lives in Cambridge with her two daughters.
