Steven M. Bauer is a partner with the international law firm Proskauer Rose LLP, based in its Boston office. He is co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Department, and within it, co-chairs its patent and intellectual property group. For over thirty years. Mr. Bauer has concentrated his practice exclusively in complex patent and technology matters, as lead counsel in cases ranging from RNAi technology to digital electronics to software, from encryption to financial services to high-energy plasmas, and from nanotechnology to high-temperature superconductors. Mr. Bauer has been active in the “smart phone patent wars,” recently winning a patent case on behalf of his client MobileMedia Ideas, against Apple in a jury trial in Delaware.
Mr. Bauer also is a Visiting Lecturer at MIT, where he teaches 6.903J – Patents, Copyrights, and the Law of Intellectual Property, during the Spring Semester.
Mr. Bauer is a graduate of M.I.T. (S.B., S.M., Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and Boston University Law School. He has represented many clients built by MIT entreprenuers, including Analog Devices, RSA Security, SeaChange International, Cognex, Sensable Technologies, E-ink, Helicos, Witricity, and Harmonix.
